Welcome to a hidden romantic garden in Vienna. The Cafe Adlerhof.
The Café Adlerhof is located in the 7th district in Vienna. The former typical Viennese Beisl (german word for inn) has become a trendy hotspot in Vienna in recent years. The unspectacular entrance of the café house has a nice surprise at the back.
You suddenly feel like you are in a historic glass house. Everything is playful and ornate, like in a cheesy romance novel. We love it! The furniture in Cafe Adlerhof is a game of classic and modern. My highlight is of course the white spiral staircase, which gives you the impression of reaching up to the sky. There are flowers everywhere, whether it’s the elaborate wallpaper or the plants hanging from the ceiling. Garden feeling. Otherwise, there are still plenty of things to discover that contribute to the beautiful overall picture.
The Café Adlerhof offers different types of breakfast dishes, which consist of many different ingredients. You just have to try it. Breakfast here is truly like something out of a fairy tale. I just love it. It’s really difficult for me to choose because everything sounds irresistible.
This time we decided on the Adlerhof breakfast. Consisting of a fried egg, grilled sausages, mini potato pancakes, smoked bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, natural yoghurt with homemade granola and fruits as well as a freshly squeezed juice made from apple, mint, jelly and berries. So quite a lot. Reminds me of the typical English breakfast. Then I ordered the crémant. Smoked salmon, sourdough & buckwheat blini, poached egg, salmon caviar, dill, cream cheese, cucumber and watercress. As a sweet treat there was a creme brûlée – for me the typical crunchy caramel layer was missing. The whole thing was served with a glass of Crémant (Prosecco). Finally, I just had to try the truffled egg dish.
The drinks we treated ourselves with that day were typical for us. Cappuccino and a freshly squeezed orange juice. To celebrate spring, we ordered one or more glasses of Prosecco.
Since I know that I’m not the only one in Vienna who has fallen in love with the cafe, it’s not easy to get a table on the weekend. At least everything is fully booked two weeks in advance. So if you really want to visit Cafe Adlerhof, you have make a reservation in advance or try it during the week. But be careful, in summer times there is generally nothing recommended in Vienna without a reservation.
For me, Cafe Adlerhof is like a cafe in a romantic fairy tale. It is really very special and unique. The price-performance ratio is right. The food is aesthetic and delicious. The atmosphere is very nice and you don’t want to leave. A very successful conversion of the former inn into a trendy cafe that people love. For me it’s the perfect place for brunch with friends.
