Ballroom – damn good Dumplings

Fancy something very special? Then you’ve come to the right place at Restaurant Ballroom. Because the best special dumplings in the city are offered here. So not the typical ones you can get everywhere. No. The craziest creations are created here for the taste, the look and for our souls. Inspired by the classic Chinese dim sum, the Italian tortellini and the Russian pierogi, the restaurant Ballroom has developed its own special variations.

There are now already 2 locations in Vienna, I visited the one in the 1st district near „Hoher Markt“. From the outside, the appearance of the Ballroom Restaurant is a little more reserved. There is a very clean facade in green with the slogan written large in yellow. The inside, however, will surprise you. Almost everything is pink. Everything is in different shades of pink, the tiles, the wall colors and even the neon lettering on the wall. That’s what makes my little girl’s heart beat faster. As a contrast, the colors yellow and green are used. A very successful and surprising design.

There is a large selection of different balls (that’s what the dumplings are called here). The Ballroom restaurant not only offers signature balls, but also a seasonal offer. All products are freshly prepared by hand in their factory in the 16th district of Vienna.

For the first time, I took complete advice when ordering and simply asked what the waiter said was the best ball. That’s why we ordered the Signature Ball: Superball. Consisting of BBQ beef, cheddar, cabbage, bacon and cranberry cream. A taste as if you were sitting at the Superball of the NFL. Then we tried the Saesonal Ball: Gyros Ball. Consisting of chicken, feta, lemon, cucumber tomato salad, yogurt cream and olive crackers. As if you were sitting somewhere in Greece. We had 6 dumplings of each type but you can variate the amount from 3 to 12 for each order.

I was really positively surprised by everything. The look of the Ballroom restaurant is really beautiful and fits in with the trends you see everywhere on Tiktok and Instagram. The taste and presentation of the balls is simply amazing. You can’t take enough photos there. The employees are all very nice and accommodating. I really can’t say anything negative.

A special feature that I discovered out of the corner of my eye when ordering the balls is that you can apparently also buy balls for home, which are already packaged in beautiful, colorful packaging, perfect for the freezer at home. I think heating up delicious dumplings from Ballroom is a nice idea for times when you get hungry for them and they aren’t open.

Just as I was leaving I saw that they were offering truffle balls as well. I definitely have to come back and try those …
