„You can´t buy happiness but you can buy LOCAL and that´s kind oft he same.“ – unknown, Cafe Ährlich
The Café Ährlich is located in the 9th district in Vienna. And is easy to reach by public transport. As the name of the café / small bakery suggests, you can find honest food there. The concept of the café is that almost everything is brought directly from their own farm to your plate in the café. Therefore a more local food is almost impossible.
In terms of appearance, Café Ährlich is very minimalist, bright and clean. The food and products speak for themselves. I’m a big fan of such an almost Scandinavian interior. The walls are all white and there are 2 black subtle lines of lights that illuminate the entire room. The furniture is all made of wood and simple. And the counter is the main focus for me with all the different white, beige and brown tiles that fit perfectly into the whole room. A successful interior design.
I love having breakfast or brunch. It’s not for nothing that they say that this is the most important meal of the day. That’s why I try to celebrate and enjoy them as often as possible. And in Café Ährlich you have the feeling that you can simply switch off. And when I saw that they offered breakfast all day long, I was even happier. Because there is hardly anything like that in Vienna.
Before I get into the details of the dishes and products at Café Ährlich, I would like to tell you briefly about the history of the café. The farm is located in Wippenham, Oberösterreich and is affectionately called Edtbauernhof. It is literally the heart of Café Ährlich, because not only are various types of grain grown there, but also vegetables and fruit. This fruit is also used, for example, for their own apple juice. So pure nature. If you would like to know more details, you are welcome to come by and experience and taste everything in person.
Now let’s get to the food. As mentioned before, I am a big lover of breakfast and I have to say that I was by no means disappointed at Café Ärlich. We decided on the “Innviertler” breakfast. Consisting of a boiled egg, ham, bacon, seasonal cheese, butter, horseradish, jam and the special Ährlich Kipferl and Weckerl. A large platter with a colorful variety to satisfy all taste buds. Everything was served with such incredible love and precision that at first I could only be amazed. Additionally we tried the “Ährlich” breakfast. This also consisted of the Ährlich Kipferl and Weckerl and their homemade butter and jam.
Finally, we treated ourselves to a carrot muffin and an apple cinnamon roll. I’ve definitely never had such a juicy apple cinnamon roll in my life. Super fluffy and delicious! The Café Ährlich also offers its own patisserie delicacies for anyone who craves something sweet or for those who can’t stay as a take away.
It’s definitely worth trying this at least once if you are near Café Ährlich.
My overall impression of Café Ährlich is extremely positive. The prices are completely reasonable and not excessive. Everything is freshly prepared. You can even look into the “bakery”. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. The furnishings reflect the simplicity of the entire concept, which exudes a light calm. The food not only looks good, but also tastes as good as it looks. So definitely worth a visit!
