Cafe Sperling is located directly in Augarten Park in Vienna’s 2nd district. A somewhat hidden cafe in a charming palace. Modern Viennese cuisine with an emphasis on regional and seasonal foods. Run by 2 friends who have created a small oasis in the middle of the park.
You can’t easily see Cafe Sperling from the outside, only the large outdoor dining area/sun terrace – perfect for spring/summer – in front of the restaurant gives you an idea that there’s something there. From the inside you feel like you are in the living room with a cozy atmosphere that enchants you no matter the weather. There is an Austrian saying – “Luck is a bird” – which means that luck comes and goes when, where and how it wants. And that is also the motto for the entire interior of the cafe. Adorable!
The entire concept of the restaurant is to serve sustainable products in a modern yet elegant way. Food that is good for you and also looks good. Win Win. However, it should be noted that the menu often varies as a result. Perfect for trying out new dishes again and again. Because there are certainly enough people like me who often order the same dish when they have the opportunity.
That day I decided on a truffled egg dish with spinach and feta on a slice of brown bread, garnished with cress. Plus a cappuccino and freshly squeezed orange juice in a champagne flute. Cafe Sperling has a good selection of dishes. There are not too many, only selected ones with particularly high quality. That’s exactly what sets this cafe apart. Few but perfect dishes.
All in all, I was very positively surprised by the cafe. Firstly because you are always discovering new places in Vienna and secondly because the entire atmosphere was simply harmonious. The dishes were aesthetic and delicious. The staff friendly and accommodating. The furnishings are cozy and chic. The Cafe Sperling offers all the features to enjoy a wonderful meal with family and friends. A true secret hotspot in Vienna.
