„When i say “six pack“, do you think about abs?or beer?“; Work For Your Beer, Figls
The Biergarten in the Viennese vineyards. The Figls is located in the 19th district in Vienna and, like the Lugeck (blogpost), is one of the 8 businesses run by the Figlmüller brothers. In 2004, this former Heurigen pub was remodeled and converted into this beautiful classic beer garden. It sounds a bit strange to open a Biergarten in the middle of the vineyards. But something unexpected like that is usually a complete success.
The Figls restaurant is a very nicely decorated building. From the outside you can immediately see the 2-story renovated facade with the charming green shutters. The large logo is directly above the inviting door. The interior is very well thought out. Light walls with light gray/blue paneling. The high ceilings and the traditional dark Viennese inn furniture. The overall picture is rounded off with modern copper-colored lights. A harmonious combination.
At Figls you can enjoy classic Viennese cuisine or international classics. A place where everyone can find something good to eat. So we also tried out the menu. There is the classic menu, where everything your heart desires is offered. Then there is a special menu where special and seasonal dishes and open white and red wines are offered. And there is even a lunch menu with soup, main course and dessert.
That evening we ordered from the standard menu. As a starter I once had the beef tartare. Classically marinated with toast & Figls fries. For the main courses we tried the typical pub classics from Figls. Once the “Wiener Tafelspitz” in a soup pot with roasted potatoes, apple horseradish and chive sauce. – a true Figlmüller classic. Then the Viennese fried chicken, baked in small pieces, served with potato and cream cucumber salad. Then an original Viennese schnitzel with potato and bird salad and, to top it all off, the spicy spare ribs from the grill. With corn on the cob, spring onions, BBQ sauce, sour cream & figs fries.
And what’s the best thing to drink in a beer bar? Of course beer! The Figl offers an excellent selection of beers on tap, which even non-beer lovers would certainly enjoy. That day I had the “Figls house beer”. A naturally cloudy beer with a balanced taste that goes well with food.
I previously only knew about Figls by hearing and was happy to finally have visited it. It is a good restaurant to round off the day. With a beer and traditional dishes, it’s even easier to forget about your stressful everyday life. And it tastes even better with family and friends. Therefore my conclusion is: beautiful modern/traditional inn, value for money and it was delicious too.
Conclusion:
a secret place between the vineyards
