After years and far too long of waiting, the infamous Victoria Secret Show is back. This year she is celebrating her comeback in her hometown of New York City on October 15, 2024. Get ready for an unforgettable show where, almost real, angels float over the runway and amaze us. Where we can admire the legendary wings again and generally be enchanted by the whole thing.
I’m definitely one of the people who were pleasantly surprised that the Victoria Secret Show is back. I know her from before and she brings back fond memories for me. It was a must for me every year to see the show with a friend and comment on all the outfits and music artists. You could almost say that this year’s show made my own little angel break out of me.
Why is the show back?
In 2018/19 it was announced that there would be no more Victoria Secret shows due to a lot of hate and a desire for drastic change. Because of this, the then Chief Marketing Office commented during a vogue interview that the underwear brand supported or embodied a certain standard. This was not well received by the public at the time. As a result, the brand Victoria Secret even lost major supporters and its market relevance.
After 5/6 years, the brand Victoria Secret returns with vigor to take us to heaven again with a fantastic show. Because many fans of the brand wanted the glamorous runway event back. Fun, wings, entertainment—all through a powerful, modern lens reflecting who we are today. This year it consists of 5 segments. “We are back” was the first show from Victoria Secret, opened by supermodel Gigi Hadid in her stunning pink wings. The 3rd show was opened by model Kate Moss. The last show ended by American talk show host and actress, Tyra Banks.
What exactly has changed?
I think a lot of people had mixed feelings about the Victoria Secret show coming back. Some want the brand to change significantly and integrate a wide range of diversity and others want the former angels back. The first step was that Victoria’s Secrt released a documentary highlighting its renewed commitment to inclusion and diversity in 2023. Seven models with disabilities, including wheelchair users and visually impaired models, participated in the casting, reflecting the brand’s new inclusive focus.
Victoria Secret promises a more contemporary take on the former shows. Not only concerned about the diversity of the women, but also about the materials. Previously, more than 600,000 feathers would be needed for a single show, for all the different wings. This year these are made from handcrafted faux feathers. Cheers to the animal rights charity Peta US. But let’s get to all the models we can see at the Victoria Secret show. In order to show more diversity, not only the legendary angels of the recent past are shown, but also the angels that were there at the first shows. They are now all over 50 and, like Kate Moss, look stunning.
Which music artists performed?
Only female actors will appear at this year’s Victoria’s Secret show. Starting with Lisa from the band Blackpink, the South African singer Tyra and the mother of fashion herself, Cher. So there are a few very strong ladies who really light the fire under the roof. Because if we’re honest, we all feel better when we can listen to strong feminine music and sing along freely. I think the perfect music was invited this year.

I’m very happy that the Victoria’s Secret Show is back. My personal preferenc are the former angels. There are many beautiful new faces that will certainly become popular with the show. I also thought it was great that former angels were there. I know that many people’s opinions are divided on the topic of diversity. And that’s perfectly fine. Of course you should feel comfortable in your own body, but my motto is that you should always strive to get the best out of yourself. And I think that’s exactly what the Victorias Secret brand embodies. They show us stunningly beautiful angels that we can look up to. Without envy or hatred. They serve as role models for what we women can achieve. This is Victoria’s Secret.
