„You don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.“ – Paul Prudhomme, Klee am Hanselteich
The Klee am Hanselteich is a classy restaurant in the 17th district of Vienna, which is a well-kept secret for the Viennese. Because it is in the middle of nature. The perfect place to escape the stress of everyday life.
A feeling like a fairy tale and still in Vienna. There really is something magical and tranquil about the location, with the large pond and large terrace. Magical! When you sit on the cozy terrace, you feel like you’re on vacation by the water. And that, in my opinion, is the entire concept of the restaurant.
Everything is very open and bright. A lot of wood was used, whether in the construction or in the furniture. The whole water feeling is rounded off with blue decorations and cushions. Without a lot of frills, the emphasis here is on subtle, reserved decoration so that you can fully concentrate on the beautiful surroundings and the delicious food. Great job Klee am Hanselteich!
The menu at Klee am Hanselteich is a mixture of classic Austrian cuisine and Mediterranean summer cuisine as you know it from vacation. The selection of all the dishes is completely sufficient and everyone can easily find a dish that they feel like eating.
After ordering our desired dishes, you are served freshly baked bread with butter and Liptauer (a typical Austrian spread) and prosciutto. As a small snack before the actual dishes arrive. Delicious!
As a starter we ordered the beef tartare. In my personal opinion, this tasted a bit like Letscho. Steamed peppers and onion. Basically really tasty but not 100% what I expected. The portion for this was really big. As a second starter we had the crispy calamari with a chili-basil sauce. Wow. The fresh and light sauce went perfectly with the fried one. Hats off for Klee am Hanselteich.
For the main course I was inspired by the whole flair at Klee am Hanselteich. I chose the grilled octopus. This one was incredibly delicious. Served with fresh carcasses and pickled dried tomatoes, it was a real treat overall. I also ordered the truffle fries with parmesan and was very happy with it. Because the fries were crispy, you could clearly taste the truffle without there being too much or too little. And the Parmesan rounded off the side dish perfectly. We also had to order some classic Austrian cuisine. A veal Wiener schnitzel with a potato salad.
I’m always happy when I’ve been to the restaurant Klee am Hanselteich. It feels like a short vacation where you can rest and then calmly go back to your everyday life.
You really can’t complain about the portions at Klee am Hanselteich. They are really sufficient and the quality is 100%. I’m sure no one goes home hungry. The service was also very friendly and accommodating and you felt comfortable. So if you feel like taking a little break from everyday life, the restaurant Klee am Hanselteich is the right place for you.
Conclusion:
a true vacation feeling restaurant
