Der Dachboden is a rooftop bar above the 25th hour hotel in the 7th district in Vienna. A hip bar where you immediately feel at home. A very special event was organized for the turn of the year. Normally the bar is free for entrance, but for special events you have to get a ticket. The ticket cost €190 per person entering. Included were small snacks, soft drinks and a midnight snack. – all alcoholic drinks were not included. The price can be discussed, but you were in a closed company where there weren’t too many people and you could still have a good chat. A DJ was also on site and played all evening / night.
Usually the bar is full of comfortable furniture to sit and relax. For the event, bar tables with bar stools were set up and a small dance floor was formed. The attic basically consists of 2 rooms. The main room had most of the tables and the DJ. In the second room there were more seating options, but a little further away from the action and the snack bar. Popcorn, lots of sweets and brownies were offered. There were also waiters walking around handing out pizza bites. There was also a small bowl of olives and pretzel sticks on the table. Admittedly, I wasn’t full afterwards, but it was enough as a snack in between. At midnight there were two different chilis to choose from – one with meat and one vegan. The meat thing was gone after 5 minutes. Apparently other guests were hungry too.
In summary, one can say that it was a successful evening. The atmosphere was there from the start and you had the feeling that everyone wanted to have a nice evening. The drinks were unique. Really interesting mixes. In terms of age, it was a mixed bag and the DJ played more goldies – and that brought everyone together. The event may not have been worth the price, but the atmosphere and location were definitely worth it.
The view from the terrace was really wonderful. Despite the clouds, you could watch the fireworks without any problems, unfortunately there weren’t as many fireworks as usual this year. It’s a shame when you think about what was on offer in Paris and London this year. Well, let’s hope for next year.
