Oui, Oui, Oui to Paris – the metropolis of love and fashion

Welcome to Paris, the city of love. – and that applies to everything. No matter whether you love the food, the architecture, the flair, fashion or your partner – There’s a little bit of everything here. When you walk through the city you can’t stop being amazed. Behind every alley there is a nice cafe, a trendy fashion store or a historic building or monument. The city has more to offer than you may think.

There are many different opinions about this city. You either love it or you don’t. – and that’s totally fine. Of course there are good and bad sides in every city. Instagram only shows us the good ones, the luxurious, stately and fashion-conscious Paris. The downside to this, which you need to know, is that the city is really not clean. The French are considered conceited and unfriendly, and here the customer is by no means king. But with all the other positive aspects, you can easily eliminate the negative ones – at least in my opinion.

That’s why I would like to take you with me on my journey through Paris…

Pink Mama

The Pink Mamma restaurant was number 1 on my list of restaurants in Paris. That’s why we had to go there on the first day. We made our reservation 3 weeks in advance because the restaurant is fully booked almost every evening. I’ve never seen a building like this in Paris – pink tiles with generous outdoor plants, like a little girly garden. The restaurant is really unique. The stairs with all the pictures, mirrors and plants were the first experience. The second experience were the drinks – Pink Mamma’s own creations – be sure to order the Mango Mule and be surprised by the presentation. But the biggest highlight for me was the truffle pizza. Juicy and aromatic, what more could you want.

Overall score 10/10.

Cafe Marly

Cafe Marly is one of the most famous cafes in Paris – at least according to Instagram. The cafe is located in the Louvre, with a view of the famous glass pyramid. It seemed like the cafe was more for tourists than locals, which would explain the prices. Nevertheless, it was worth the price as we ate on the terrace and had a view of the pyramid and even the Eiffel Tower at breakfast.

We ordered the classic cappuccino, freshly squeezed orange juice and I had the omelet with ham & cheese. The portions were a bit small for the price but completely sufficient. The staff was surprisingly friendly and could speak perfect English.

Le Vrai Paris

“The real Paris” – this name describes the restaurant in Monmatre to the point.Currently, restaurants all over Paris are decorated with artificial flowers to get people’s attention – and with complete success, because when I walked past on the first day, this restaurant immediately caught my eye because of its external aesthetics. So welcome to Le Vrai Paris…

A typical French restaurant where the waiters are a bit snooty to you at first, but that goes away after the first order. First I had to order my beloved Aperol – it was just as good as in Vienna. Here we ordered the classic onion soup with bread and cheese. The portion may look small but it is very filling. For the main course I wanted something hearty. So I ordered a pepper steak with French fries – and in France they really don’t skimp on the fries. I was very enthusiastic about the food and atmosphere.

Overall score 9/10.

Breakfast at Immersion

A cute brunch spot in Paris – just like the food. Immersion is a breakfast chain in Paris that mainly offers waffles – whether sweet or savory – it’s all there. I opted for the very traditional waffles with caramelized pecans, butter, whipped cream and lots of maple syrup – a real sugar and calorie bomb. My fiance opted for the hearty version. Waffles with fried eggs and fried chicken strips – also called salty mood here. It was a really tasty and very filling breakfast.

Gallery Lafayette

The most famous shopping center in Paris. We were there just before doors opened in the morning and it felt like we were at a fashion sale where everything was 80% off. – so many people stormed the gallery. Galerie Lafayette consists of 7 different floors, where each floor is dedicated to a fashion category. For example, on the 4th floor there are only women’s shoes – my dream. The shopping center is unique not only because of all the luxury items but mainly because of its architecture. At the center is a huge glass dome and below are illuminated, gilded balconies. – just WOW.

Another highlight that the gallery can offer is the free rooftop terrace on the 7th floor. Here you have a view of the Opera – which is currently being renovated – and the Eiffel Tower. An incredible view.

Louvre

If you weren’t in the Louvre, you weren’t in Paris. The former royal estate is now one of the largest museums in the world. There is always a queue in front of it, no matter what time or season. It is even said that the Louvre has around 50,000 guests per day. Here I definitely recommend buying a ticket in advance and another tip is to take the entrance at the Carrousel de Louvre – there are almost no people there. The entrance is underground and if you already have a ticket you can be in the museum in less than 1 minute.

We were more interested in the left side of the museum. All the Roman statues, Napoleon’s chambers – which are currently being rebuilt – and the large pictures. We saw the Monalisa as we walked past, but I find it a bit unspectacular. We liked the large murals and the different ceilings in each room – simply fantastic architecture, no wonder people didn’t want to leave the Louvre back then given all the beauty.

Lunch at LouLou

I had already heard about the LouLou restaurant from many sources and of course I had to try it out myself. The restaurant is located in an old museum, right across from the Louvre and the park. It is a more upscale restaurant – you can tell that as soon as you enter the restaurant. The cuisine is Italian with a slight twist of French. This was the most expensive restaurant I’ve ever been to in Paris – but it was also worth an experience.

At the end of our trip we drank a Moscow Mule and an Old Fashion here. Afterwards I ordered the vodka pasta – thank you Gigi Hadid for showing it to us – and my husband ordered the spaghetti with pistachio pesto. The service was perfect and extremely professional, the food was perhaps a bit overpriced but also very tasty.

Overall score 7/10.

Summary:

Every single time I was completely satisfied with every dish I ate. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like – so hats off. You shouldn’t forget that Paris is really a big city – even if it looks small on Google Maps – it takes about an hour at least to go anywhere. Due to the current Bedbucks situation, we only went everywhere on foot – comfortable shoes are a must here. If you don’t want to be completely exhausted at the end of your city trip, you should definitely invest in an Uber. – Fares depend on the time of the day and are cheaper than a taxi.

Conclusion:

You have to like Paris or not – there is no in between
