Marios is a restaurant in the 13th district in Vienna, right next to Schönbrunn. The 13th district in Vienna is called Hietzig and is considered a more traditional district in Vienna. Since it was inhabited by locals from the beginning and therefore the cuisine in this district is mainly traditional, Marios exudes a certain lightness despite traditional cuisine.
From the outside, the Mario looks rather modern, with all the glass and the reserved concrete facade. So at first glance it’s a bit atypical for the area. From the inside you can notice the Mediterranean flair. Lots of wood, dark leather and green accents on the walls. – a positive surprise. Marios also offers the opportunity to eat on the terrace in spring/summer. All the greenery makes you almost feel like you’re with friends in the garden and you can forget all the noise around you in peace and quiet.
It was my first time at Marios for breakfast and I was positively surprised by the service and the prices. Despite the better restaurant, the coffee only costs €1.80. At this price you won’t get a good coffee, or any at all, in any other restaurant. – my biggest plus point. Furthermore, the map was easy to understand and classic. However, the restaurant is very flexible when it comes to the customers‘ wishes and you can order a wide variety of variations. I chose avocado bread with parmesan and cress. With an additional boiled egg in a glass.
It is also worth mentioning that the bread on offer comes from Joseph Brot. One of the top 3 bakeries in Vienna – believe me, every Viennese knows Joseph’s bread and knows how incredibly delicious it is. So that would be another plus point in terms of quality.
In summary I can say that the breakfast was delicious and affordable. The portion isn’t the biggest but you can order anything you like depending on your hunger. And the coffee for the price – great! I think Mario’s is more for the more traditional breakfast eaters or for young adults. The price really can’t be beaten and the ambience matches it too.
