A restaurant that serves traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern twist.
The Santos has 2 restaurants in Vienna, I was in the 7th district, Neubau. The restaurant is easily visible from afar because you can’t miss this unique red logo. There is the option to sit inside or outside – since it is finally autumn we decided to sit inside. The interior is decorated in darker tones and there are lots of golden accents – a typical Maya touch. The first thing that stands out in the restaurant is the backlit bar – a real eye-catcher.
A restaurant that never gets boring – the Santos. Typical traditional cuisine but with a modern twist. With every bite and every look you feel like you’re in Mexico. Santos offers a variety of typical dishes that you have never heard of if you are not Mexican, and the menu also varies depending on the season, just a little. Starting with the snacks and starters, through to the main course and dessert, Mexico is everywhere. – without doubt. Of course there are also typical spicy dishes, but don’t worry, none of what we ordered was too spicy, but rather well seasoned. – and that’s what makes a good restaurant in my opinion.
As a starter we tried the “Totopos con 3 salsas”. These were tortilla chips with 3 different sauces – one guacamole and 2 different salsas. For the main course we tried different dishes. Once the Fajitas de Pollo – chicken with vegetables in a hot pan, served with warm tortillas and various sauces. Second we ordered the Burrito de Pollo, third the Vegan Burrito Bowl and lastly the “Torta Casera” – a Mexican sandwich with chicken breast , avocado, etc., served with potato chips.
All in all, I would say that I was very satisfied with the whole evening. The food was absolutely delicious, the cocktails were good and the whole atmosphere was too. One thing I noticed is that the staff was very polite and friendly, but a bit slow when serving the dishes. Nevertheless, I always enjoy coming back – whether with my partner, my friends or my family.
