Schloss Hof – the fascinating world of the Baroque

There where festivals and weddings were celebrated and the fascinating world of the Baroque still shines in its splendor today.

Less than an hour from Vienna is the breathtaking property called Schloss Hof. A true gem for all castle lovers and fairytale fanatics, including me. The castle offers an extensive range of things to see and is a perfect excursion destination to be transported into the fascinating world of the Baroque.

In 1725, Prince Eugene of Savoy acquired a four-wing castle from the 17th century and had it expanded into a magnificent palace complex. At that time, the impressive ensemble of castle, garden and manor complex was created, which can still be experienced today. Thirty years later – in 1755 – Maria Theresa took over the country estate. Far-reaching changes were made to the castle.

The attention to detail:

No matter where you look, everything has been thought through. And you can see the attention to detail everywhere. You see something unique everywhere. The eyes can’t stop glittering and marveling. I liked the fountains and the cast iron gates and railings the most. What craftsmanship!

The outside areas:

The external areas of the entire area amount to approx. 70 hectares of land. There are 7 different terraces, a petting zoo, large enclosures for horses, donkeys and sheep. And so much more. The landscape architects really let off steam here and were able to create a perfect balance between the strict baroque style and the relaxed nature.

The interior:

Anyone who is enchanted by the exterior will love the interior of the castle. The state rooms are simply breathtaking. Each room shines with its own shine and color. The state rooms are all on the first floor of the castle. I think you can notice this feminine influence in the entire design of the rooms. The hallway, on the other hand, is very reserved in style, almost minimalist.

My favorites:

I’ve always been a little princess on the inside. I love the gold details, these kitschy yet extremely elaborate wallpapers and just the whole flair. No matter how many times I visit Schloss Hof I always have to look at the state rooms and walk through the gardens on the terrace. My personal highlight is the horse stable, which is incredibly beautiful and where you can pet and feed the animals. My dream!

Summary:

Schloss Hof has something to offer for everyone and is always trying to improve. The gardens are beautiful and the state rooms majestic. There are lots of playgrounds and even a petting zoo for the children, so it always stays fun and exciting. To put it simply: Great. No matter who, what age group, what interests, there is something to see for everyone.

And I am sure that a lot of exciting things will happen here. Stay tuned!

Conclusion:

My favorite castle in all of Austria
