Strike City Bowling – let the good times roll

„I´m just here to bowl and have a good time, not to win! Well, maybe to win a little.“, Strike City Bowling

The Shopping City Süd (SCS), one of the largest shopping centers in Austria and fortunately right next to Vienna, has opened an exciting new attraction: a modern bowling alley. Perhaps a little inconspicuous at first glance, the new bowling alley is located directly behind the new slot machines, at entrance 1.

At first you see colorful lights everywhere and hear lots of people cheering. I’ve walked past the bowling alley so many times that I really wanted to try it out myself. The facility looks clean and modern. There is an electronic control for each lane, where you can play many different types of bowling. You can also order drinks and food from there. There is a mood everywhere and the first impression is positive.

Reception wasn’t so easy to find at first. You should know that you have to go past the first checkout at the entrance. The bowling alleys are all new and great to play. However, the seating area directly behind is a bit tight. You share a bunk with the neighboring train. Furthermore, in my opinion, there were far too many people there, so you had to keep snaking past until you got to the place. A little more space would have been nice when there is a lot of empty and unused space behind it.

We decided on classic bowling. It was just a shame that you couldn’t change the names anymore. The drinks menu is manageable. There is a small selection. You can tell the selection is geared more towards young people because there is a good selection of different energy drinks. Due to limited time, we didn’t look at the food menu.

I don’t think I’ve ever been as critical of any review on my entire blog as I am now. I have to say I was really looking forward to bowling, but in the end I was pretty disappointed with the whole experience. The new bowling alley looks modern, but the service just wasn’t enough.

Here are the details:

You are told to be there 15 minutes beforehand. We were. Then we were told to wait. No problem either. Then, on our own initiative, we asked about the shoes. Then we were told to go to train 8. There was no signage. And there was no clear path either. Then we finally found our lane by asking and the gentlemen who wanted to play there didn’t go. He was reportedly not told anything. – there is simply a lack of strict or good coordination of employees. Then finally 15 minutes later than booked (you have 1 hour), we finally got our place. We started playing euphorically and then the bowling alley was turned off after 5 minutes because it was being billed. And then the employee forgot to turn it on again. A very annoying start to a game. 20 minutes later we were finally able to start playing.

I also have to mention that the service at the train was not very pleasant. The order took quite a long time for the short playing time. Unfortunately, you could tell that the poor waitress was overwhelmed. And the last unpleasant thing was that they wanted to charge us for a beer that we didn’t even drink. I think the bowling alley would be a lot better if the employees were better trained.

Conclusion:

could be a nice experience
