Zazatam – an extraordinary dining experience

Would you like a unique dinner experience that you won’t easily forget?

Then I would like to warmly welcome you to Zazatam, which is located in the 2nd district in Vienna. A restaurant where time passes completely differently and you can be inspired by culinary delicacies. An event that is not easily forgotten.

You cannot see or recognize the zazatam from the outside. The navigation system takes you to a beautiful historic building. You can’t see anything except the large, heavy double-winged door in front of you. Only when you open it you finally see the restaurant’s beautiful logo. The entire restaurant is located in the basement of the building. The atmosphere radiates something dim and interesting. This is certainly due to the way the restaurant is furnished. Everything is kept in very dark colors, with elegant aspects, floral wallpaper and individual light spots. A place where you can concentrate entirely on eating.

The selection at Zazatam varies depending on the season and what is on offer. When it comes to starters, it is generally intended to share the food with the person opposite you. For this reason, we decided on several dishes in order to be able to enjoy the variety of dishes.

We decided on the avocado with yuka chips, then bao buns with beef, pork belly with chicharron and, classically, a beef tartare.

Anyone who knows me knows that I always eat pasta when I have the chance. So it wasn’t a big surprise that I had to try the homemade pasta. Strozzapreti with burrata to be exact. The other main course was the duck with red cabbage, apple and chun bing pancakes. Truly a culinary dream. This fusion of the classic Austrian dish with Chinese cuisine. Hats off!

For me, dessert was a successful end to the whole dinner. I chose the popcorn ice cream and it was truly amazing. Caramel ice cream, with salty popcorn crumble and fleur de sel – mega. The churros were also very successful, but the chocolate mousse was too bitter for me and the presentation of this dish was not 100% successful. But the churros were good.

An important point for me was the service and behavior of the waiters. It has to be mentioned that Vienna is really the meanest city when it comes to gastronomy, so I’m happy that there are always exceptions. The Zazatam is 100% included. The waiters were very helpful and friendly from the first second to the end. We introduced every dish and made you feel special. Full points!

My only negative point is that there were more ingredients in the dishes than described. Which is fine in principle, but if you order a beef tartare, for example, and then there are mussels in it and the person opposite can’t tolerate them and it’s not on the menu, it’s a bit unpleasant. Nevertheless, the dishes were perfect.
