Nearly an experience as in Willi Wonka and the chocolate factory, although you don’t have to be afraid to be pushed into the chocolate.
The Zotter chocolate factory is located in Riegersburg, Austria. About 1,5 hour away from Vienna.
The Tour starts with a short movie, about the philosophy of the family, the factory and the way of the organic chocolate, in their own small cinema room. Although it was interesting all I was thinking about is chocolate. Just after that the path of pleasure begins and you get a little white tasting spoon before they let you in.
You can try over 300 different and unique tastes. It „starts“ with the cocoa bean and the raw chocolate – but attention it is very bitter, so don’t take too much on your spoon! After that you can taste all the different kinds of cocao butter and the liquid combination. Zotter also has vegan options with soy, coconut or rice milk. – to give everyone the chance to experience the Zotter magic.
In the next step of the tour you enter the draft factory where you can smell all the spices and finally taste all the matchless chocolate creations. The whole room is interactive, you can even break a little chocolate piece by yourself or a robot brings you the chocolate praline. You can also create your own chocolate bar and pick it up at the store – it only takes about 40 minutes till it is finished and it’s a great memory of the tour.
The whole tour lasted about 2 hours. It was so fascinating to see all the different types and forms you can make out of chocolate. Right after the chocolate tour we had to buy us a hotdog at the food truck right infront of the factory. Then we went to the edible petting zoo and tried to loose some of the calories.
Conclusion:
It was a wonderful experience for family and friends. – no matter the age
